About Kaya

"A yoga Life is an awareful life" - Swami Dayananda Saraswati

To honor the lineage of teachers

Sadā Śiva Samarambhām
Śankārācharya Madhyamām
Asmāt āchārya Pāryanthām
Vande Guru Paramparā

Starting from the Great Lord Shiva, through Sankaracharya and my teacher, the guru parampara eternally flows. All wisdom is traced back through the teacher student relationships all the way to Bhagavan.

Opening Mantra for Study

Oṃ
Sa ha nāvavatu
Sa ha nau bhunaktu
Sa ha vīryam karavāvahai
Tejas vināvadhītamastu
Mā vidviṣāvahai
Oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ

May we both be protected.  May we both be nourished. May we together
acquire the capacity to study and understand what we study.  May our study
be brilliant. May we not disagree with each other.  Oṃ peace, peace, peace.

Gītā Dhyānam
In Praise of the Bhagavād Gīta

Oṃ
Pārthāya pratibodhitāṃ bhagavatā
Nārāyaṇena svayaṃ
Vyāsena grathitāṃ purāṇamuninā
Madhyemahābhāratam
Advaitāmṛtavarṣiṇīṃ bhagavatīm
Aṣṭādaśādhyāyinīm
Amba tvām anusadadhāmi
Bhagavadgīte bhavadveṣiṇīm

Om. Goddess Mother Bhagavadgītā!
I repeatedly invoke you who were taught by Bhagavān Nārāyaṇa himself for the sake of Arjuna, the son of Kuntī. {You who were} faithfully collected and reported by the ancient sage, Vyāsa, and placed in the middle of the Mahābhārata, you who are in eighteen chapters, you who have the nature of showering the nectar of non-duality, and who is the destroyer of the life of becoming {saṃsāra}

Closing Mantra

Oṃ
Pūrṇamadaḥ
pūrṇamidaṃ
pūrṇātpūrṇamudacyate
pūrṇasya
pūrṇamādāya
pūrṇamevāvaśiṣyate
Oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śānti

That is Whole, This also is Whole,
From this Wholeness comes that Wholeness.
Taking Wholeness from Wholeness, Wholeness Indeed Remains.
Oṃ Peace, Peace, Peace

In gratitude.

The teachers with whom I have studied Vedānta texts, mantras and prayers. These teachers are for me a connection to the very source of wisdom all the way back to Bhagavan, and the very means to self-knowledge.

Luckily, in this teaching tradition, imitation and repetition is prized. Any lessons of value in this course are due to the gifts of my teachers and their teachers... all the way back to Bhagavan. Any fault, mistake or offense is mine alone. May the blessings of the teachings of Krishna, passed down through the generations shine through here, in spite of my own limitations, may I have the right words and attitude that these teachings may have a positive impact in others. - Love, Kaya
