"Soma is the the inner essence that can lead us to the sense of connection to all. Soma can bring us to ultimate unity with all of existence in which we access the healing powers of all of nature. Due to this supreme love of all, life itself can rejuvenate us. Nothing depletes us." - Dr. David Frawley
While this program is open to everyone, returning students will get new insights, tools and teachings about the depths of the power of soma. Kaya will be emphasizing Soma's power for CONNECTION... our ability to feel connected within, to others and to all of nature as increase Soma!
Soma is the power of rejuvenation, embedded within your sacred anatomy. Described in the yoga tradition as a "moon that rains down nectar", soma is the cool inner milk, a fountain of youth that sustains, calms, supports, and nourishes us like a divine mother. |

What Students Say About Kaya's Soma Retreats
"I have gained an at home yoga practice cultivating rejuvenating Soma that supports me spiritually, physically and emotionally. I am very happy and feel transformed and awakened. I was so good to have the condensed yoga this weekend for so long. It was the first time I had experienced that much yoga in a weekend and it was really good for me. The repetition was key in building the muscle memory that I could take into this week in my own home practice. I have been doing it everyday. I am very grateful to have this practice that I can continue throughout my life. This has been most valuable to me gaining this practice and the learning about and how to cultivate Soma, which is so key for our society." - JS
"Kaya's knowledge is obviously vast, and her communication is so clear, her presence so unencumbered by personal issues or needing validation from her students, that the teaching is extremely accessible. She's totally organized and calm, clearly in her element, and the pace is measured - never rushed but never lagging. She is aware of everyone as individuals and of the whole group at the same time. The whole experience allows for as ease-full as possible a download of both the intellectual information and the energetics of the teaching that's coming through." - SL
"Kaya's approach is clear, incredibly thorough, easy to understand and balanced in regard to experiential learning and talks. I cannot recommend Kaya's programs enough. For yoga teachers or for dedicated students. You will find true yoga in the practice and in the teaching. Thank you Kaya!" - JR
"Kaya's approach is very holistic, calming, nurturing, supportive, knowledgable, grounded in the sacred wisdom that she shares she exudes, her path, that is felt when she is teaching. Her voice is very soothing and present and embodies Soma. Her guided meditations of Soma at the beginning of the retreat were very effective in creating that calm and cool Soma internal waters that I feel has been present since the retreat. I found her teaching to be very descriptive and easy to follow and know what to do. She was very accessible to ask questions, which made it feel very effective in learning the practice for the long term that I find very very useful. It was effective for me to hear of the Ayurvedic principles and how they relate to Soma and Soma lifestyle and foods and how to cultivate Soma. It was also useful to hear about the ancient sacred texts and teachers in what they had to say." - JS
"The Soma Retreat was amazing! I had a lot of healing and openings! I am so grateful I could be a part of it!" - BHB

Signs of soma depletion:
|
Signs of soma promotion:
|
I have been acutely aware of the increase of depletion in my yoga students and colleagues this year. I believe it is more important than ever to tap into the timeless wisdom and practices for cultivating the nectar of rejuvenation. I love to share the teachings about the value of promoting and preserving your inner soma to balance the modern impetus toward external achieving, machismo, multitasking, cleansing, perfecting, pushing, depleting, inflammation, anger, aggression, conflict, busyness, and overwhelm that has taken over many of our personal relationships, society-at-large, and sadly most of the yoga world. A soma life is a calm, loving, juicy life. May we all be blessed by divine soma.
