This week's Video
Contemplation
"Yoga is more a soma practice, more nondoing than doing. More undoing, removing our negative karma, not doing something in addition. Yoga means doing less, turning within, letting go, surrendering. It is discovering the force, the shakti, the healing essence that can draw us to awareness naturally, in which we can let go of stress, anxiety, negativety, traumas, emotional factors that disturb us. Soma yoga is a yoga of effortlessness or letting go of yoga, whereas the agni yogas are personal effort or striving even militant. Soma yoga is a deeper level of practice in which we move beyond personal effort into the descending flow of grace that is the flow of soma." - David Frawley

Sanskrit Prayers
Listen and see the sanskrit and meaning of the opening and closing prayers I have been doing in these classes right here.
Soma is everywhere, even in the bible!
Thanks to YTT Yogini Susan for sharing part of this prayer in our FB group and recognizing the Soma in it! It inspired me to unpack the whole Psalm from the Vedic perspective of Agni and Soma.
Psalm 23, in KJ Language
with Kaya's Vedic Interpretation
The Lord is my Shepherd. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Surrendering to God {Consciousness}, I am supported. I am guided to rest in nature {including my own nature} and am thus calmed and nourished.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Calmed and nourished, my soul is replenished. Surrendered to God {Consciousness} I naturally deepen my connection to Dharma {righteousness; alignment with natural law}, which is God manifest.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Replenished, calm and living in accord with dharma, I move toward true immortality, which is the recognition of the changeless Self which never dies. I am free, having placed my ego in the hands of God. I am at peace and full of inner satisfaction.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Full of inner satisfaction, I am more deeply nourished still. The Soma, which began as a drop when I first surrendered has now become a rush. I am full of the nectar of bliss and immortality.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Full of Soma, Surrender and Dharma, I engage in the world fully, as a karma yogi, always aware of everything in existence as a Gift from God, because everything IS God, including me. I am seated in God-Consciousness for all of my waking days.
